A lifelong resident of the Oklahoma City area, I currently reside in Edmond with my wife Myra and two children and Penny, our Goldendoodle. Our family attends Crossings Community Church and we enjoy the occasional road trip when life allows us to get away. I have a passion for cooking, especially barbecue, and rarely let anyone leave the house without a sample!
I became interested in a career as an inspector over a decade ago after a mixed experience with an inspection on a home I was purchasing. The inspector, while not very personable, went out of his way to make a few minor repairs during the inspection- something he was in no way required to do. He also relayed some concern about possible moisture in a large parapet wall on the home.
Unfortunately, I didn’t understand the seriousness of his concerns and spent a good sum of money in the years following on repairs to the aforementioned wall. Looking back, I realized that while the inspection itself is quite important, the way this information is presented and explained to the client is every bit as important. One must walk the fine line of properly presenting essential information while at the same time not being an alarmist. The key component here is good communication and I like to think that is my strong suit.
The home inspection is somewhat unique in that while it focuses on construction techniques, there is no actual construction done. Instead, an inspector uses a mix of chemistry, physics, and mathematics knowledge to understand the “how” and “why” and ramifications of things done or gone wrong. As the owner of Redbud Property Inspections, I assure you that you will get a detailed home inspection and have it communicated to you in a way that’s helpful.
