Performance Floor Covering

Rob Warden and Ron Martin both entered the flooring trade in the late 80’s. They both started at one of the largest installation outfits in the tri-state area at the time. Working at a very large installation shop, they were exposed to many different flooring installations both commercial and residential. In addition there was a four year program of schooling. Both Rob and Ron graduated from the St. Paul Technical College program and continued working at the same shop all the while dreaming of some day starting their own business.

Fast forward to 1997. Both Rob and Ron were qualified and respected journeymen in the flooring industry, but they needed to grow. In the month of July 1997, both turned in their notice that they would be leaving to work on their own as Performance Floor Covering, Inc. They both honored their employer’s request to stay on for the two weeks that was required, then bought a work van and began subcontracting work from a few different showrooms and began building relationships with designers and other contractors.

As a result of their training and work environment in their previous jobs, which included doing a large amount of work for the upscale Dayton’s residential shop, they had all the skills needed to build a reputation as a quality installation team.
